The Collection.
The standing Collection is housed in the Rototāwai Homestead and hung in the main rooms on the ground floor. The Collection is recognised as a significant group of works (painting and sculpture) by established contemporary New Zealand Artists.
Opening Hours.
The Rototawai Gallery & Gardens are available for bookings by appointment year round. Bookings are available between 10.00am and 4.00pm – 7 days a week.
The Homestead Gallery.
The standing collection is in the Rototāwai Homestead – which includes the main rooms in the lower floor of the house. The Gallery has additional exhibition space adjacent to the Homestead, designed to allow for changing exhibitions & events.
Rototawai Feature Exhibitions.
In addition to the main gallery, a new gallery space has been opened to accommodate changing exhibitions which will enable art lovers to return to Rototāwai to view new works and feature exhibitions over time.
The New gallery at Rototawai.
Alongside the permanent collection, the Garden gallery officially opened by the Minister for Arts, Culture and Heritage, the Honourable Paul Goldsmith, on 26 March 2026. The new gallery space will enable visitors to view new works, feature exhibitions and enjoy events over time.
