This page contains the general terms of entry to Rototawai - Our Health and Safety guidelines, visitor rules and our privacy statement.
General terms of entry.
All visitors must abide by the following Code of Conduct as a condition of entry;
– Do not visit Rototawai if you are unwell and likely to be contagious to others;
– Do not smoke (including electronic cigarettes) or vape anywhere inside the gallery;
– Do not leave any children in your care unattended. All children under the age of 14 must be actively supervised by an adult who is 16 years or older at all times;
– Do not disregard any safety signs or barriers;
– Do not bring drugs, alcohol, weapons of any kind, or any other item deemed dangerous onto the premises;
– Do not tamper with fire and/or life-safety devices, such as fire extinguishers or fire alarms.
Consideration of others.
Rototawai expects you to be considerate of others in the gallery and on the garden walk. We ask that you are mindful of your noise level, including through the use of any electronic device (including cell phones).
Health & Safety.
Please adhere to all health and safety guidance while at Rototawai. This includes following safety and emergency protocols and staying on the pathways while on the garden walk;
– Do not enter the lake – please keep well away from the lake surroundings and the lake itself;
– Be aware of possible risk from fallen branches and rabbit holes while on the garden walk; – Please make note of emergency exits when in the gallery;
– In case of a fire or fire alarm, please assemble in the carpark at the rear of the Homestead; – Do not leave until the Rototawai staff member on duty has accounted for all visitors on site.
Rules for visitors.
Please follow the following guidelines;
– Strictly no food, drink, smoking or vaping in the gallery or on the garden walk. For the protection of our taonga, please do not consume food and drink inside the homestead; – No bikes or skateboards are permitted on the walk;
– No dogs on the property at any time;
Toilets and wheelchair access.
Toilets are located in the gallery and Gardens;
– Toilets are located in the gallery adjacent to the entry and outside to the left of the main entry and in the gallery by the lakeside entrance/exit / Toilets unisex and for use by all gallery and garden visitors;
– On the garden walk, toilets are at the end of the walk in the homestead gardens to the right the homestead;
– Wheelchair access to the gallery is available via a ramp on the right hand side of the main entry;
– Toilets for wheelchair users are adjacent to this entry/exit;
– Please note that the garden walk may not be fully accessible or usable year round due to weather conditions.
Parking and personal possessions.
Please park at the rear of the homestead by following signs and directions;
– There is no public parking on the driveway.
– All personal items and possessions are your responsibility / while in your car, in the gallery or garden walk;
– Rototawai does not operate an unattended or lost property service. –
Admission Charges.
Adults $30.00 / Children (2–15) $15.00 / Infants (0–2) free. All fees are charged in NZ$. All admission prices are GST inclusive. Rototawai is not responsible for any fees charged by your card provider.
Minimum fee(s) / Please note there is a minimum charge per booking of $120.00.
No Supplement(s) / Please note that as we are a not for profit we do not offer student or senior citizen supplementary pricing.
Group / party sizes.
The maximum number of visitors at any one time is limited to 40 people.
Open Gallery.
Please note that other visitors may be touring the gallery at the same time - unless you wish to book a private tour – in this instance, please contact us directly to arrange this. Fees for private tours may apply.
Changes & cancellations.
Please make your booking and payment carefully. We do not offer refunds - but you are welcome to reschedule another time – however we may not be able to guarantee the date and time of a reschedule request as Gallery tour places are limited.
Weather closure.
On the day of your booking, the garden walk may be closed at short notice due to adverse weather. Notwithstanding, the homestead and gallery will remain open – and the admission fee for Rototawai remains the same.
Right to refuse entry.
Rototawai reserves the right to refuse entry to anyone who is intoxicated, abusive or disrespectful to our staff or other visitors.
Donations.
If you make a donation you’ll be issued with an invoice. By making a donation to Rototawai, you are helping support the acquisition of future artworks as well as contributing to the ongoing management and maintenance of the gallery, homestead and gardens.
Booking Detail(s).
Please note that by booking a tour we will add you to our database and may provide updates, news and promotions from time to time.
Events.
Visitors attending functions, events and or meetings at Rototawai cannot take food or drink through the gallery or into the designated dressing room or toilets;
– Any food is to be consumed outside the homestead in hired tents or marquees set up for a specific event.
No commercial photography / Commercial photography in the gallery is strictly forbidden.
– Photography and filming for personal use is acceptable, but please be considerate of other visitors; only include images of people, with their permission.
– Photography for events are covered within the terms of use for functions and events at Rototawai.
Your personal information.
You don’t need to provide any personal information to browse this website. If you provide personal information voluntarily (e.g. through online forms or when signing up to our e-newsletters), we’ll only use it for the stated purpose;
– We keep this information secure and don’t share it with any third parties.
E-newsletters.
We don’t share information gathered from our e-newsletter subscribers with any third parties;
– You’ll only receive e-newsletters from Rototawai if you’ve signed up to one of our mailing lists via this website or through having purchased tickets, products or by making a donation to Rototawai;
– You can update your details or unsubscribe at any time by using the relevant link at the bottom of the e-newsletter.
